Hi there! Finally I have finished my hexagon blanket pattern the "Spring Garden Hexie" blanket. I aimed for making a pattern which would result in a colorful blanket without too many ends to weave in. I have used the yarn Secret Garden from Scheepjes which comes both in variegated and uni color. I'm very happy with the outcome (even though there of course still are some ends to weave in :)).
The size of this blanket is for a kids blanket or a laphgan but the size is easily adjusted by adding more hexagons. The pattern is mainly built up by double crochet stitches and chains, I must say that I find it very relaxing since the pattern is easy to remember and that there are not many yarn color changes.
I put a lot of work into my patterns so if you use them and share images on social media I would be very happy if you share a link to my blog and tag your work by #intheyarngarden (or #springgardenhexieblanket for this blanket). That makes it easier for me to see your creations which I'd love to see :)

2 x 735 (Wishing Well),
1 x 705 (Rambling Blooms),
1 x 707 (Summer House),

JOINING
![]() |
Blanket model |
Now it is time to join the hexagons and half hexagons. The assembling of the blanket is done in 2 steps:
1. Start with the seams marked in red in the image above. You will have 3 long stripes of hexagons after this step.
2. Join the stripes together, seams marked with blue.
Joining method:
Put the two pieces to be joined with the right side against each other (image 1). All st's are made through both of the pieces to be joined. BLO means the two loops held against each other, one from each of the two pieces.
Start in the ch-1 space to the right (image 2). Sc in ch-1 sp,
*ch 1, sc (BLO!) in the next st (i.e. the next dc) (image 3)* repeat *to* until the last st before next ch-1 sp.
ch 1 and sc in the next ch-1 sp (image 4 and 5).
ch 1 and sc in the next ch-1 sp (image 4 and 5).
Joining |
If you now have reached the end of the edge to be joined, fasten off and weave in ends. But if you are joining a long edge, ch 1 and sc in the next ch-1 sp and repeat the joining instructions from first * above until you reach the end. Then fasten off and weave in ends.

Spring Garden Hexie Blanket |
I hope that you have enjoyed this pattern. I had a really good time making it (at least the crocheting part, not so much on the pattern writing part ;) but it had to be done).
